When you need to use underground water, you have to install submersible pump to get best performance and sufficient water supply all the year round. Following information will be helpful for you to understand whole process.
Flow Rate
First calculate your requirement for daily requirement of water that need to be pumped out from underground aquifer. Using that data and intended pump ON-OFF schedule you can easily calculate required flow rate (Liter/minute) of your pump.
Pressure Head
Now you to have to calculate required pressure head (meter) for the pump to deliver water to reservoir. This is summation of pump submerse depth + Pressure loss in pipes from bore-well outlet to reservoir inlet + Height of reservoir tank (for underground tank this value is zero).
How I will know submerse depth?
You have to collect historical data of the location to determine submerse depth. Another more accurate way is to conduct a sonar test of the site to determine location and depth of the aquifer underground.
Remember: There should not be any other submersible pump within 150 meter radius.
Pump Selection:
There are many well known pumps in market. Select your preferred brand and contact with them for brochure. Using Pressure Head (H) vs. Flow Rate (Q) data, you can easily select the pump model you need.
Bore-well:
Pipe diameter and length: Bore-well Pipe diameter should be one size larger than pump suction diameter so that pump can be easily installed inside the pipe. Total pipe length should be twice of pump submerse depth.
Bore-well pipe material: uPVC pipe (D class) is strong and durable enough to be used as Bore-well pipe. For higher diameter (larger than 6 inch) MS pipe should be used.
Bore-well pipe type: 2/3 of total boring depth should be used solid pipe and 1/3 filter pipe of same size.
Delivery pipe: Same size as Pump delivery size. Delivery pipe may be of PVC or Mild Steel.
Boring:
Boring depth should be at least 20ft more than bore-well pipe length. Boring can be done by either manual labor or motorized rigging machine. Usually 260ft depth bore can be done manual labor, more than that require motorized rigging machine. Boring using motorized rig is expensive than manual one.
What is the problem with boring?
Boring is the trickiest part of the pump installation process. Most of the land area in Bangladesh is made of alluvial soil. Boring in alluvial soil is very unstable and often collapse when drilling shaft is withdrawn. Only experienced riggers can deal with this problem by using extra casing or chemical treatment of the slurry.
Electric Control Box:
A good quality control box is necessary for reliable operation of the pump.
